Based on lawsuits filed last year, the subprime crisis is vastly outpacing the litigation following the S&L crisis litigation of the early 1990s.  Navigant Consulting just put out a recent study which shows  the number of subprime-related cases from 2007 already equals half of the total 559 S&L cases handled by the Resolution Trust Corporation over many years.  The second half of 2007 showed a dramatic increase, some 50%, over the first half of 2007 as the subprime mortgage meltdown really started to boil.

This blog discusses subprime mortgage problems. Subprime problems began when lenders offered loans to potential home owners with bad credit or credit / income that did not meet the standards of traditional lending. Subprime mortgages for people with bad credit or no credit face an uncertain future. Once the hope of many to enter into home ownership has now been corrupted both by overreaching consumers and predatory lenders. I hope to follow the aftermath of this crisis.
